Our first discovery is that we do not actually have a unified, single mind. In fact, we have a dynamic, multidimensional mind made up of a variety of independent parts, each with their own set of dynamics. This is our internal family. Our internal family is either working together in harmony or battling for superiority and control. Normally we are operating with a mixed family of both. Our view of the world and our level of suffering is directly a function of how the family is operating on a day to day basis.
